Who We Are
Experienced, expert counsel
We are experienced fundraisers who will provide your organization with strategic and effective development counsel. We will lead the way, lift the barriers, and even push back—if that’s what it takes to help you move your cause ahead.
Our approach is reflected in our actions:
- We are volunteers who help nonprofit organizations achieve their missions. Our founder, Jeffrey Wilt has served, chaired, and supported numerous nonprofit boards and committees, including Elk Hill, The Healing Place/CARITAS, Meals on Wheels, and state-wide board Voices for Virginia’s Children. Bobby Thalhimer has years of community service, including Impact Makers, the Institute of Philanthropy at University of Richmond, the Science Museum, and The Community Foundation.
- We are donors who support our community’s needs. In addition to our individual giving, we give as a team. In 2012, The Monument Group established a donor-advised fund at The Community Foundation bearing the company’s name.
- We are firmly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- We are leaders in the profession, sharing our knowledge locally, nationally, and internationally. Amanda Macdonald is on the board of the local AFP chapter, where she chairs the Inclusive Fellows program and sits on the Strategic Planning Committee. Our managing partner, Alan Hutson, is currently the first person from Central Virginia elected to AFP’s International Board. He has served on the AFP National Board as well. He also has established The Monument Group as the US team supporting international fundraising consultancy The Management Centre working with such organizations as Adeso and UNICEF. Prior to Covid, Alan was a multi-year conference speaker for multiple international and national conferences.
