Bobby Thalhimer, Of Counsel

Bobby Thalhimer joined The Monument Group in 2015 and retired in 2021, but remains of counsel. Professionally, Bobby served for 16 years as Senior Vice President for Philanthropic Services at The Community Foundation, helping hundreds of donors to frame their charitable plans. During his time at the Foundation, Bobby helped develop three affiliate community foundations in Virginia’s Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, and he hosted quarterly meetings of Community Foundations of Virginia.

Prior to joining The Community Foundation, Bobby served as Executive Director of the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation and Deputy Director of the Science Museum of Virginia. During that time, the museum completed a $36 million capital campaign and grew its endowment from $600,000 to $11 million.

Bobby has broad experience on nonprofit boards, having served on the William B. Thalhimer, Jr. & Family Foundation (President), the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation (Investment Committee Chair; also served on its predecessors the Richmond Memorial Hospital and its Foundation where he was President), the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond (Investment Committee Chair) and the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation (President; also served as a governor-appointed Trustee).

Bobby graduated from Williams College with a major in Economics, and he received his MBA from University of Richmond. Bobby is also a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond.
